I just decided to start my own blog since I jus love frequenting all the wonderful food blogs on the net. To all those food bloggers out there I salute you and keep up the good work. I hope my blog can contribute to the love of food lovers everywhere and to share the wonderful mix of ethnic cuisine we have in Hawaii and abroad.

"Kaukau" is a pidgin slang word meaning "food" or "to eat." The Hawaiian term for food is `ai. The two theories on the origin of the word "kaukau" are the Hawaiian word for table, pâkaukau, and the Chinese word for food, chow chow. In Hawaii we say "We go kaukau!", I would say, "I hungry I like kaukau!" or "Let's kaukau!" The Cuisine of Hawaii is a fusion of foods brought by immigrants to the Hawaiian Islands, particularly of Portuguese, Chinese, Filipino, Japanese, Korean, Polynesian etc.

Great site! I've been looking around for some local sites/blogs. Was really happy to find one that combines Honolulu with food. Mmmmm, food! Keep up the posts about local restaurants too!
